Composers on Mathematical Music
Subtext 1749023

I have no idea what mathematical music is. Of course there is no set of relations, including musical, that cannot be represented by mathematical relationships. Even a figured bass consists of numbers which are definitions of pitch-class sets. But it is preposterous to call music mathematical because it can be described accurately by the use of mathematical concepts.
