IWBNI the dashed rectangle that is associated with the zoom tool could be moved, without changing its size, before zooming.
Here are steps that may be used to zoom:
1. Select page view.
2. Place the mouse pointer just above and to the left of the area that is to be zoomed.
3. Temporarily select the zoom tool by pressing the shift key and then pressing the right mouse button. If desired, after the zoom tool has been selected (indicated by the magnifying glass cursor), the shift key may be released but one must continue to hold the right mouse button down through step 4.
4. While holding the right mouse button, drag the mouse down and to the right. This causes a dashed rectangle to appear that indicates the region that will be zoomed.
5. Release the right mouse button.
The left mouse button could be used to move the dashed rectangle. That is, between steps 4 and 5 above, one could press and hold the left mouse button (while holding down the right button) to move the rectangle that had been drawn in step 4.
When the zoom tool is selected and the rectangle has been drawn with the left mouse button, the roles of the mouse buttons could be reversed. That is, the left button could be used to size the rectangle while the right button could be used to move the rectangle.
