Allow Continuous MIDI Data to be Copied from One Document to Another

IWBNI it were possible to copy continuous MIDI data from one document to another.

As it is now, it is not possible to copy continuous MIDI data from one document to another. This may be demonstrated by performing the following steps:

  1. Select the menu item File>New>Default Document twice to create two documents. Set the view of each document to scroll view. And, select Window>Tile Horizontally.

  2. In the upper document, use the midi tool to enter continuous MIDI data for volume (controller number 7) at a value of 100.

  3. Select the mass mover tool. Copy the first measure of the upper document to the first measure of the lower document. Do this by dragging the measure from one document window to the other, or by using Edit>Copy and Edit>Replace Entries or Edit>Insert.

  4. After performing the copy operation, use the MIDI tool to verify that there are no continuous MIDI data events for volume in the first measure of the lower document.
Note: If the MIDI tool is used in place of the mass mover tool to attempt to copy continuous data from one document to another, a "Ctree error" will occur. This can be demonstrated by performing the following step in place of step 3:

Warning! Save all work before performing the following step. If the following step is performed after steps 1 and 2, there may be a "Ctree error" and as a result, Finale may become unstable.

3. Click the MIDI tool button to close the midi split screen. Select/check the menu item MIDI Tool>Edit Continuous Data. Select the first measure of the upper document. Drag the first measure of the upper document to the lower document. After several seconds a message such as "Ctree error 2 in CTDETAIL:914" will be displayed.

4. Close the Finale program.
