An Option to Derive INI Settings from an Old Version when Installing
Upgrades
IWBNI there were an option to specify that when a new version of Finale
is installed, the INI file settings for the new installation should be
derived from a specified existing installation of an older version of Finale.
Note: The INI file contains settings for items such as program options,
color settings and speedy entry key definitions.
As it is now, after a new version of Finale has been installed (e.g.
in a directory called "c:\fin2001"), one may perform the following steps
to use the INI settings from an existing installation of an older version
of Finale (e.g. in a directory called "c:\fin2000"):
-
Create a backup copy of any INI files that were created when the new version
was installed (e.g. "c:\fin2001\finale.ini").
-
Copy the files "c:\fin2000\finale.ini" and "c:\fin2000\finmidi.ini" into
the directory "c:\fin2001".
-
Run the new version of Finale and make changes as needed to the directories
listed in the Folders section of the Program Options dialog
box and the Default File Name text box on the Other Program Options
dialog box.
This could be implemented by providing an option during the installation
process that would allow one to specify a set of INI files from which settings
should be derived automatically. And, one would have the option to specify
that no existing INI files should be used, in which case the installation
process would operate as in the current version of Finale.
