Automatically Scroll when Drag-Selecting Objects that are Out of View

IWBNI the display were automatically scrolled in the case when one drag-selects an area that extends beyond the current view. As it is now, the display is not scrolled in this case. To drag-select such an area, one may reduce the view percentage by using the menu item View>Scale View to.

This feature would allow one to drag-select, for example, a region consisting of the first 50 measures of a score in scroll view, or all expressions on a page in page view (assuming that the menu item Expression>Show All Handles has been selected), in the case when such objects may not be viewed simultaneously at the current view percentage.

This could be implemented by automatically scrolling the display up, down, left, or right when the mouse is dragged above, below, left or right of the area of the Finale window in which the score is displayed. For an example of this style of interface, see Microsoft Excel 97.

Note: To select a region of measures that extends beyond the current view, one may click the measure that is to be the top left corner of the region, manually scroll to the measure that is to be the bottom right corner of the region, and press Shift+click on this measure. Alternatively, the Select Regions dialog box may be used.
