A Shortcut to Jump to the End of the Current Measure in Scroll View
IWBNI there were a keyboard shortcut that could be used in scroll view to cause the view to be shifted horizontally to the display the right barline of the current measure.
This feature would be useful for jumping to the end of a long measure that extends beyond the right edge of the document window.
This could be implemented by allowing one to use the following keyboard
shortcuts in scroll view:
Command | Keyboard Shortcut |
Shift view horizontally to display the right barline of the current measure (if it is not already visible) | End key |
Default position of last measure | Ctrl+End |
Note: The current measure is that which is indicated by the Measure text box at the bottom of the Finale window. The default position of a measure is the position that is used whenever scroll view is selected after page view has been selected.
The End key would shift the view horizontally (but not vertically), as needed, to display the right barline of the current measure. The shortcut Ctrl+End would set the current measure to the last measure and shift the view both horizontally and vertically to display this measure in the default position (like the End key in the current version of Finale).
Note: If implemented, this proposal would change the existing functionality of the End key which is now used to jump to the default position of the last measure.
