A Shortcut to Jump to the Default Horizontal Position in Scroll View
IWBNI there were a keyboard shortcut that could be used in scroll view to cause the view to be shifted horizontally to the default horizontal position. Note: The default horizontal position is the horizontal location at which the leftmost barline is automatically placed whenever scroll view is selected after page view has been selected.
This feature would be useful to shift the view back to the default position after the hand grabber tool has been used to horizontally navigate through a sequence of measures or to the end of a long measure.
This could be implemented by allowing one to use the following keyboard
shortcuts in scroll view:
Command | Keyboard Shortcut |
Default horizontal position of current measure | Home key |
Default position of measure 1 | Ctrl+Home |
The current measure is that which is indicated by the Measure text box at the bottom of the Finale window.
The Home key would shift the view horizontally (but not vertically) so that the current measure is at the default horizontal position. The shortcut Ctrl+Home would set the current measure to measure 1 and shift the view both horizontally and vertically to display this measure in the default position (like the Home key in the current version of Finale).
Note: If implemented, this proposal would change the existing functionality of the Home key which is now used to jump to the default position of measure 1.
