Publish Benchmarks to Measure the Speed of Scanning-assisted Entry
IWBNI there were benchmarks to measure the speed by which music may be entered when scanning technology is used.
The benchmarks could consist of a set of graphics files of excerpts of music scores representing:
Also, for each graphics file, a Finale file would be provided that was generated manually (e.g. by using the speedy entry tool or hyperscribe tool) without the use of music character recognition software. For each Finale file, a description of the process used to create the file would be provided together with the time required to create the file. These Finale files and timing results would establish a reference point to which the speed of scanning-assisted entry could be compared.
