IWBNI it were possible to specify default values to be used for the Bracket Options section of the Group Attributes dialog box. As it is now, the default values for these options are:

• Bracket Type: None
• Distance from the Left Edge of Staff: -24 EVPUs
• Vertical Adjust (Top of Bracket): 0 EVPUs
• Vertical Adjust (Bottom of Bracket): 0 EVPUs
• [ ] Show Bracket If Group Contains Only One Staff

This feature could be implemented by adding a menu item called Brackets to the Options>Document Settings submenu. This menu item would display a new dialog box called Bracket Options that could contain the following controls:

The controls in the section Default Bracket Settings for Bracket Type could be used to specify a set of default settings for each type of bracket. The controls in the Default Bracket Types section could be used to specify the types of brackets that are to be used for various types of staff groups. The specified Outer Nested bracket type would be the default bracket used when a staff group is nested within another. The specified Piano bracket type would be used for staff groups of piano staves.

The Piano Braces button would display the existing Piano Braces dialog box.
