IWBNI all tools, plug-ins and utilities that require a selected region automatically operated upon the entire document in the case when there is no selected region.
Some functions already work this way. For example, the Count Items and Find Range plug-ins operate on the entire document when no region is selected. However, with the Check Range plug-in, in order to check the range of the entire document, one must first select the mass mover tool and then select the entire document before using Check Range.
With this functionality, if MassEdit>Apply Note Spacing is chosen when no region is selected, the operation could be performed on the entire document.
For operations that change a document, a dialog box could be displayed to allow one to confirm that the operation should be performed. For example, if the 4 key is pressed when the mass mover is selected and no region is selected, a dialog box could be displayed to allow one to confirm that Apply Note Spacing should be performed on the entire document.
This type of functionality is consistent with the way operations work in other programs such as word processors. For example, in many word processors, the operation Find and Replace is always available. One need not select the entire document to apply the operation to the entire document.
