IWBNI there were an option to specify that the triangular guide line handles that are located in the ruler should be hidden when the Show Guides menu item on the View menu is deselected. As it is now, when this menu item is deselected, guide lines become hidden but the triangular handles continue to be displayed in the ruler.

This could be implemented by adding a checkbox option called Hide Handles When Guides Are Hidden to the Guide Line Settings section of the Grid/Guide Options dialog box:
