Allow an Allotment Value to be Assigned to a Given Note for Spacing
IWBNI it were possible to assign an allotment value to a given note for spacing purposes. As it is now, the minimum horizontal space for a given note is calculated as a function of its duration by using the settings in the Allotments section of the Music Spacing Options dialog box.
This would allow one to make the space allocated to a given note be independent of its duration.
This feature could be implemented by creating a note allotment special tool. With this tool, a handle would be displayed for each note as with the note position special tool. When the handle for a note is double-clicked, a dialog box would be displayed that would allow one to enter an allotment for the selected note. When a handle for a given note is selected, the allotment for the note could be displayed in the status bar in the following way:
Allotment: 165 = 123 + 42
or more generally:
Allotment: A = D + C
where A is the allotment for the note, D is the default allotment for the note and C is the amount that has been added to or subtracted from the default allotment.
