Allow Any Tuplet Type to be Assigned to a Speedy Entry Tuplet Key

IWBNI it were possible to assign any given tuplet type (e.g. 6 sixteenths in the time of 1 half) to any of the speedy entry tuplet keys (i.e. Ctrl/Opt+2 through Ctrl/Opt+8). As it is now, the following predefined tuplet ratios are used:

2 x : 3 x
3 x : 2 x
4 x : 3 x
5 x : 4 x
6 x : 4 x
7 x : 4 x
8 x : 6 x

where x is the duration that is assigned to the number key that is pressed after the tuplet key is pressed. For example, the sequence of keystokes Ctrl+6 followed by 4 would be used to create a tuplet of 6 eighths in the time of 4 eighths. Ctrl+1 is used to display the Tuplet Definition dialog box to create arbitrary tuplet types.

This could be implemented by adding a menu item called Tuplet Keys to the Speedy menu. This menu item would display a new dialog box called Tuplet Keys that could contain the following controls:

----------------------------------------------------------
Tuplet Keys

Tuplet Key Meaning
Default
Ratio
Default
Duration
Begin Tuplet
Count 1 Duration 1 Count 2 Duration 2
Ctrl+2     2 Quarters 1 Quarter
Ctrl+3     3 Eighths 2 Eighths
Ctrl+4     3 Sixteenths 2 Sixteenths
Ctrl+5     3 Quarters 2 Quarters
Ctrl+6 X     Sixteenths   Half(s)
Ctrl+7   X 7   6
Ctrl+8 X X

----------------------------------------------------------

For any given tuplet key, the checkboxes Default Ratio and Default Duration would be selected to obtain the behavior of the current version of Finale.

If Default Ratio is checked for a given tuplet key, the ratio that is assigned to that key in the current version of Finale would be used. Otherwise the ratio specified by Count1:Count2 would be used. For example, with the assignments made in this table, the ratio 7:6 would be used for Ctrl+7.

If Default Duration is checked for a given tuplet key, the duration for each side of the ratio (i.e. Duration 1 and Duration 2) would be equal and specified by the duration key that is pressed after the tuplet key as in the current version of Finale. Otherwise, the specified durations Duration 1 and Duration 2 would be used. For example, with the assignments made in this table, the durations sixteenth and half would be used for Ctrl+6.

For example, with the assignments made in this table:

One would press Ctrl+4 to begin a tuplet of 3 sixteenths in the time of 2 sixteenths. The durations used for the tuplet ratio would be specified in the table and would be independent of the first duration key pressed after Ctrl+4. To create a tuplet of 3 sixteenths in the time of 2 sixteenths that consists of one eighth note followed by a sixteenth note, one would press Ctrl+4 followed by the duration keys 4 (for an eighth note) and 3 (for a sixteenth note).
