A Simple Entry Palette for Note Shapes

IWBNI there were a palette associated with the simple entry tool that could be used to select the shape that is to be used for noteheads. This feature would be useful when notating percussion music or special effects.

This could be implemented by adding a Simple Entry Note Shapes Palette to the simple entry tool. A checkbox option called Show Note Shape Palette in Simple Entry could be added to the Program Options dialog box and a menu item Simple Entry Note Shapes Palette could be added to the Window menu.

A menu item called Simple Entry Note Shapes Palette could be added to the View>Customize Palettes submenu. The Customize Toolbar dialog box could be used to add up to 36 buttons to this palette. Each button so added would be a blank button to which one could assign a font character from any available font. To assign a character to a button, one could right click the button in the palette to display a context menu with the menu item Select Note Shape. This menu item would display a new dialog box called Select Note Shape that could contain the following controls:

----------------------------------
Select Note Shape Dialog Box

Note Shape:

[Select...]  _____

[Set Font...]
----------------------------------

These controls would operate like those in the Notehead section of the Stem Connections dialog box. The font character that has been assigned to a given button would be displayed on the face of the button.

Default buttons could be provided for the following note shapes: various styles or X, various slash sizes, various diamond sizes and an encircled X.
