Propagate Changes in a Score to Existing Extracted Part Files
IWBNI it were possible to have minor changes that are made to a score file be propagated to part files that were extracted from the score prior to a change, thus eliminating the need to extract parts again.
This would simplify the task of making minor revisions or corrections to a score and its associated parts. For example, one might wish to change the pitch of one note or the text in a text block. As it is now, a given change can be made manually in both the score and part. Or, the change can be made in the score, and the part can be extracted again. The latter approach requires that all final editing that has been done on the part be repeated.
This could be implemented by maintaining a list of all extracted part files within the score file. For a given score, a checkbox option could be provided for each extracted part to allow one to specify whether or not the part is to be updated. A menu item called Update Extracted Parts could be added to the File menu. This menu item would display a new dialog box called Update Extracted Parts that could contain the following controls:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Extracted Parts Dialog Box
File Name | Update |
extracted_part_file_name_1.mus | x |
extracted_part_file_name_2.mus | x |
extracted_part_file_name_3.mus | |
extracted_part_file_name_4.mus | x |
extracted_part_file_name_5.mus |
[Update]
-------------------------------------------------------------------
For a given part, if Update is selected, the part would be updated when the Update button at the bottom of the dialog box is pressed.
