IWBNI the instrument column were removed from the instrument list window. This would simplify the process of setting the MIDI channel, bank and patch for a given staff. As it is now, one must create an intermediate named object of type instrument for a given MIDI channel, bank and patch number. This object is then assigned to a given staff or layer.

This could be implemented by making the following changes:

1. Remove the Instrument column, View by Instruments option, Edit Instrument button and Auto-create Instrument option from the Instrument List window and rename the Instrument List window as Mixer.

2. Remove the Instrument Name edit control from the Instrument Definition dialog box and rename the Instrument Definition dialog box as Bank Selection. Preserve the existing functionality that causes this dialog box to be displayed when a cell in the B column of the Instrument List window is clicked.

3. Remove Instruments from the Save Library dialog box.
