This could be implemented by adding the following fields to each instrument record in instrument.txt:

AdvancedLowNote

For example, for the instrument Electric Bass, these fields could be set to:

BeginnerHighNote = C3
BeginnerLowNote = E1

IntermediateLowNote = E1
AdvancedHighNote = F4
AdvancedLowNote = E1
