IWBNI it were possible to specify that each instrument should be assigned to a different MIDI channel in documents that are created by using the Document Setup Wizard.

As it is now, all instruments that share the same MIDI program number are assigned to one channel. For example, for a string section consisting of Violin I, Violin II, Viola and Cello where each instrument uses MIDI program number 49 which is String Ensemble I in the General MIDI specification, all four instruments are assigned to MIDI channel 1.

This feature could be implemented by adding a checkbox option called Separate MIDI Channels on the Document Setup Wizard - Choose Parts dialog box. When this option is selected, channels could be assigned automatically in score order, with the exception of MIDI channel 10 which is reserved for percussion.
