Named Expressions and Articulations

It is often necessary to create several expressions that look the same. For example, one might create two "arco" expressions where one is used to change the MIDI program to violin and another is used to change the MIDI program to cello. Articulations that are near duplicates are also very common. For example, one can create a set of accent articulations with different vertical positions to be used in various situations. In each case, these near duplicates are indistinguishable in the associated selection dialog boxes. IWBNI it were possible to assign a name to a given expression that would be used to identify the expression in the Expression Selection dialog box. The same may be said of articulations and the Articulation Selection dialog box.

With such a feature, one could name expressions such as "arco violin" and "arco cello" and these names would appear in the Expression Selection dialog box but both would appear as "arco" in the score.
