IWBNI it were possible to create a time signature that consisted of any font character or shape. To implement this feature, a section could be added to the bottom of the Time Signature dialog box in
the Use a Different Time Signature for Display section that contains the following options:

The Shape, Character and Position settings are modeled after similar options in the Articulation Designer dialog box. The Width setting specifies the amount of horizontal space that should be allocated for the time signature which may be deduced from the specified shape or character, or may be specified by entering a numeric value (e.g. 96 EVPUs).

With such a feature, one could create the following types of time signatures:

• Early Music Time Signatures. (e.g. "3", or "C 6/4" or even more complex signatures such as a circle with a point inside).
• Fractional Time Signatures. (e.g. 1+2/3 over 4).
• Time Signatures That Contain Notes For Beat Durations. (that are placed in the staff or above the staff). (e.g. 5 over 1 eighth-note triplet).
• Large-Face Numeric Time Signatures. (that stretch vertically over a score and span several staves).
