IWBNI it were possible to specify that ties that start after a whole note be placed closer to the notehead than ties that start after a quarter or half notehead.
One would want to do this for the following reasons:
Whole noteheads are generally wider than quarter and half noteheads. Generally (and in Finale), noteheads appearing in different systems at the same point in time are left aligned. One would want to position the start of a tie that follows a whole note to be closer to the notehead to ensure that the left tip of ties are aligned across systems.
For example, if there is a 2-staff system that begins with a whole note in staff 1 and a quarter note in staff 2, and a tie starts after each of these notes, one would like to have the left tips of these ties be automatically aligned so that they start at the same horizontal position. As it is now (in Finale), the tie after the whole note will be too far to the right.
This could be implemented by having the Start values for Tie Placement in the Tie Options dialog box be measured from the left edge of a notehead.
