Increase Resolution of All Positional Information in Finale From EVPU to EFIX

An EFIX is a unit of distance that equals 1/64th of an EVPU. The term EFIX which is pronounced [ee' fix], is derived from the fact that an EFIX is a fixed point number that is used in place of an EVPU in the program code of Finale.

IWBNI the resolution of all positional information in Finale were changed from EVPU to EFIX. The EVPU is too crude a unit for high resolution printing.

There are 288 EVPUs in an inch. But there are 64*288=18,432 EFIXs in an inch. The EVPU was adequate when 300 dpi printers were the primary output device. But, 288 units per inch is inadequate when positioning objects for printing on a device that supports 1200 units per inch. Moving an object by 1 EVPU moves it by more than 4 printer pixels (Note: It will be a bit more than 3 printer pixels if the score page has been reduced by 75% in Finale).
