IWBNI it were possible to make long slurs flatter. Some believe that long-span slurs look better if the majority of their span consists of a flat section in the middle of the span. For one thing, such flatness helps one to distinguish between ties (which are usually shorter and not flattened) and slurs.

As it is now, with the existing single control point for slurs in the Slur Contour dialog box, it is impossible to specify that a slur should be somewhat flat. There could be an additional control point that could be dragged horizontally left and right from the center of the slur to adjust the flatness of slurs of a given span size.
