IWBNI the thickness of a tie could depend upon the length of the tie. There could be a different thickness setting for each span size.

As with slurs, some believe that long-span ties look better if they are thicker than medium-span ties. And, short-span ties look better if they are thinner than medium-span ties. This is especially important for extremely short-span ties (e.g. less then 1/8").
