In the Finale 2000 default file, Line Thickness in the Smart Shape Options dialog box is 2.2969 when Options>Measurement Units>EVPUs is selected. The decimal .2969 is actually 19/64=.296875 rounded to the 4th decimal place. If one wishes to try a thinner line such as 18/64ths, it is not obvious what number would need to be entered without the help of a calculator.

IWBNI all edit controls that display values that have a resolution of 1/64th of an EVPU used a simpler display format when Options>Measurement Units>EVPUs is selected. Note: 1/64th of an EVPU is called an EFIX.

Suppose a value of 2 19/64 must be displayed or entered. IWBNI any or all of the following approaches were taken:

• 2 19/64 could be displayed and entered instead of its decimal approximation 2.2969.
• 2.19 could be displayed and entered to indicate 2 19/64.
• There could be a new menu item called Option>Measurement Units>EFIX so that all displayed values would be whole numbers.
• Such entries could have a micro-scroll control to the right of the text entry area to scroll up or down through the possible values. An example of a micro-scroll control would be the control at the top left corner of the Articulation Designer dialog box that lets one navigate to the next or previous articulation.
• The up and down arrows could be used to increase or decrease values by one unit.
