IWBNI it were possible to specify the amount by which floating rests should be displaced as a function of the duration of the rest and the side on which the beam occurs.

This could be implemented by replacing the checkbox Allow Rests to Float on the Beaming Options dialog box with a button called Floating Rests. This button would display a new dialog box called Floating Rests that could contain the following controls:

The options given in this dialog box would have the following meaning:

• No Floating Rests: Rests would not be allowed to float.
  
  
• Float Rests with Automatic Displacements: Rests would be allowed to float in the same way as in the current version of Finale when the checkbox Allow Rests to Float on the Beaming Options dialog box is selected.
  
  
• Float Rests Using Table of Displacements: A given rest would float by the fixed amount specified in the table as a function of the duration of the rest and whether the beam occurs above or below the rest.
