IWBNI it were possible to specify that the beams of beam groups that contain a rest should be flat. This could be implemented by adding a checkbox option called Flatten Beam if Group Contains a Rest on the Beaming Options dialog box.

As it is now, the slope of the beam on a given beam group is not a function of whether or not the beam group contains a rest.
