IWBNI it were possible to move a selected object or group of objects by a specified numerical amount. This could be implemented with a menu item called Edit>Move that would display a dialog box with two text entry fields called Horizontal and Vertical and a drop-down list box of possible Units. Also, the Move menu item could be added to the context menu that is displayed when one right clicks on the handle of an object.
Regarding moving smart shapes:
In some cases, one wishes to move only one portion of a smart shape. For example, one might wish to pull the rightmost tip of a tab slide to the left to prevent it from colliding with an accidental. The new move-by-numerical-amount feature could also support this type of "partial" move of an object. If the selected objects were of this type, the Move dialog box would have some options such as Move Entire Object, Move Left Control Point, Move Top Control Point or Move Right Control Point. Also, the Move dialog box could be displayed when a smart shape is double clicked.
